Vintage Summer (Lucy In The Sky)


Back to the day when I was like before I found Lucy in the sky 

It was a warm summer day and the wind blew some fresh air 

We talked about the things like we did back in the old days 

Sitting in the car, imagine it’s the good old VW Golf or even Beetle 

 

Seems like I’m on the road again with Jack and joined him crying for us all 

And philosophize about the American sadness and the American madness 

Indio, Blythe, Salome – that's where she danced and then 

We would have swung north to the Arizona mountains - Flagstaff, Clifftown 


 

But then she approached me with her appeal 

I was fascinated by the way she made me feel 

 

Lucy, take me by your hand and get us high 

Baby, I just wanna fly 

Let’s see this place through your desire eyes 

Rainbow all over the sky 

 

It feels just like we’re turning round and round on a roundabout 

Never thought that I’ve found you on the other side of the world 

And you went on saying what if this world is just a strange place 

Just tell me it will be alright when Lucy in the sky wears your face 

 

Confessing that I’m torn between two worlds 

Is there a way they’ll be united? 

Divided are our worlds, disunited are our hearts 

Is there a way we’ll be united? 

 

Seems like everything was easier back in time 

But will it ever be the same again? 

Now I got Lucy and she never lets me down 

And when I get lost then I will be found 

 

We ‘re used to play the same games 

It’s the snakes cure, her high goals so close 

Lucy always wants the sky filled with diamonds 

And her crown set up like a photo in the frame 

 

But you know, I do really feel like torn 

It’s like always be dying and get reborn 

Like chasing highs and getting lows again 

I lost my power in this world and I go insane 

 

But I’m not at the point that I want to let it go 

I still do trust the road to lead me somewhere 

It’s less about the destination, it’s about the way 

Feels like I’m on Jacks traces, I don’t want to miss out 

The only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars and in the middle you see the blue centerlight pop and everybody goes Awww!
